I just realized something. Figuratively from a story telling point of view - Worth is Ziva.
It all comes back to why did Ziva stop fighting. I don't think she was scared. She still could have at least tried to kick ass from her position, but she didn't even try. And we know that Ziva isn't scared to try even if failure is likely. So it wasn't the odds that made her freeze.
It was understanding.
Worth was scared. He needed someone to believe in him, trust him and have faith in him. That was worth enough to him to make him stop. Ziva had absolute trust when she stopped fighting and he saw that and responded to it.
How did she recognize that? Because of Gibbs. She needed the same thing once upon a time and Gibbs gave and continues to give it to her.
So what Tony and McGee thinks of as Ziva liking Worth is actually Ziva recognizing herself in Worth. She sees him as a comrade-in-arms, which is actually what this whole episode is about.
So yeah...huh. That's interesting. :D
