I just realized something. Figuratively from a story telling point of view -  Worth is Ziva.

It all comes back to why did Ziva stop fighting. I don't think she was scared.  She still could have at least tried to kick ass from her position, but she didn't even try.  And we know that Ziva isn't scared to try even if failure is likely. So it wasn't the odds that made her freeze.

It was understanding.

Worth was scared.  He needed someone to believe in him, trust him and have faith in him. That was worth enough to him to make him stop.  Ziva had absolute trust when she stopped fighting and he saw that and responded to it.

How did she recognize that?  Because of Gibbs.  She needed the same thing once upon a time and Gibbs gave and continues to give it to her.

So what Tony and McGee thinks of as Ziva liking Worth is actually Ziva recognizing herself in Worth.  She sees him as a comrade-in-arms, which is actually what this whole episode is about.

So yeah...huh.  That's interesting. :D

That is so deep. And I really mean that. I'm not trying to be an ass or anything. :)

Hehe. Thanks. I'm snickering at myself as we speak, so no worries about being an ass. :p

*giggles* I thought I'd cover my bases. It was a phrase that could make me look like an uber ass. LOL

I felt like an ass posting that whole thing, so...yeah. I learned a long time ago not to take myself too seriously on the internet. It's a required skill. :D

Ok, MAJOR points for that awesome bit of character psychology/introspection. I would totally agree (and I expect an episode based fic from this also!)

Thanks.

I am sorta already working on fic from this episode. It's kinda Ziva's explanation for what she did, set up against a framework of Ziva/Abby-ness. (And dude, they totally brought the Ziva/Abby in this episode. It was awesome!) But I'm not sure how it's working out. It'll probably be a bit longer before it gets posted. :D

It was a surprisingly good episode, wasn't it? And I agree on your points. I also saw something to that final confrontation that the last, loaded glance as he's shoved into the ambulance confirmed. Ziva WAS afraid, not OF him , but of what he represented. Worth is a path that she could have been on.

Her annoyance at herself at how she responded to Abby was PALATABLE, wasn't it? It makes me very happy when TPTB let Cote really get into the character, as she is SO expressive.
