Help me with LJ graphics?

Um...so, I've been playing with making a banner for my LJ.  I made the banner and with a little bit of help from syehsreh and coding for beginners I even managed to put the banner up on my LJ.  Go me.  Except now, it looks kinda like this.  Which is bad because I want to show off the banner not have my posts on top of it. *sigh*

Does anyone have any advice on how to fix this?  Is there a way to fix this with a basic or plus account?

Yeah...I was afraid of that. I was just hoping that I was thinking incorrectly on that subject.
