This author's note might get to be longer than the entire fic. :p  First up, a big thanks to ncruuk.  Her comments not only pointed out some stylistic choices I hadn't thought about before, but also kept me laughing through the whole thing. I actually enjoyed the whole editing process. I don't think that's every happened to me before.

Second of all, if you think you've read this fic before, you would be right.  I started this fic in March of  '06 and wrote the first three parts before I got stuck and stopped writing it. I always meant to come back to it, but it just never quite worked out. When I realized it was the last fic I had to complete to finish fanfic100 I decided it was really time to buckle down. Plus I rather like the symmetry of this being the first fic I started for fanfic100 and the last I finished.

I just got back the beta'd version of the last fic I have left for fanfic100.  It's only taken three years and oh about nine months, but I've finished writing it! All I have to do is clean it up and post it!  

I'm so excited. It felt like I was never, ever gonna finish this!

My Little Damn Table

Spring – and love – are in the air, at least according to Tony as he burst into song each morning. Somehow Ziva doesn’t find it as irritating as she once might have.

It’s because of Abby. Not because she’s present, but because Ziva is in love with her and she is finally free to be with her love.

So Ziva doesn’t mind when Tony bursts into song. She recognizes that feeling of unfettered joy and hopes that his heart isn’t broken once more. She hopes for both of them, because she wants this more than ever.

Love is in the air.

So I'm really loving this season of NCIS. I've had this discussion in the past about how the most difficult thing about writing "relationship" fic for Abby and Ziva is the temporary nature of Ziva's position with NCIS, which they pretty much eliminated when they had Ziva quit Mossad, join NCIS and apply for American citizenship.

I realize that this is probably just one giant setup for eventual Tiva goodness, but that isn't really restraining any of my fangirly squee at this development or stopping me from loving the ongoing Ziva-centric arc that this season seems to have. And since they pretty much made like ninety percent of my fangirly dreams come true (the other ten percent being Abby and Ziva making out, for reals, in canon) this makes me want to write about it.

Coincidentally I still have to write one last prompt for fanfic100: "spring" so I'm looking to combine the two.  (I would totally be okay with it if I finished fanfic100 by the end of the year.)  Which I'm really not sure how that's gonna fit, but I have a few ideas kicking around in my brain.  I just can't decide how I want to write it.  I could try to sum everything up in a relatively short one shot.  I could go with a series of one shots that span the course of the series and show how their relationship has progressed, or I could do something like "The Best Thing That Never Happened to Kate Todd" but with Abby and Ziva and sticking closer to my own personal brand on canon. 

Any thoughts, preferences or suggestions?  I guess I don't have a clear enough idea of what I want to write specifically so I'm waffling about how I go about this.

The good news is that I finally, finally, finally came up with an idea for a Hollows fic for dogged_by_muses.  I knew I wanted to right something in the Return to the Hollows universe, but I've been stumped for a while now. I'm not sure how good the idea is, or whether people are going to like it, but by golly I at least have an idea now! Thank goodness! I was afraid I was going to have to bail on that one!

Now I just have to finish this NCIS fic. I was just going to write this kind of short, insane, action/adventure piece and it's turned into this long(er) thing. It's clocking at over 5,000 words and I'm not done yet!  I have got to wrap this up.  What I'm happy about is that it's a little different, I think, from any NCIS fic that I've written before. After around a hundred fics that's kind of saying something.  It's a little bit scary though too. I'm not sure how good it is or if the characterizations are still working for it.  

Hopefully I can get it wrapped up soon and talk someone into beta'ing it for me.  This whole fic is just kind of so surreal for me I really have no idea how it's going to turn out, lol.

Angsty 'Angst' McAngsterton.  I've been kind of stuck in a no writing kind of head space concerning NCIS for a while now because I had a feeling I was not going to be feeling all happy and femslashy about the finale...and I was right.  So to get it out of my system I went to the ansty place.  All the way. No happy smiley-ness here. You have been warned.  Now maybe this will get it all out of my system so I can go finish the four works in progress that I have going, for Pete's sake! Okay, so this idea has been rattling around in my head since Jenny got killed at the end of Season 5.  She's a kick-ass awesome character with a lot of things that could be explored and for the most part she gets overlooked in fic, even in femslash. 

I've always wondered if there wasn't a bit of ageism in this, but either way I'd like to rectify that.  I haven't decided what form I'd like it to take. There are a variety of ways to go. I think I'd prefer something with sign-ups to help ensure that people might actually participate, but other than that I haven't nailed anything down other than I'd like to see alot of Jenny-centric fic written.

Here's the snag in my little plan: I want to open this up to every kind of fic about Jenny. Originally I was thinking of hosting this on ncis_femslash just because I'm lazy and I've already got a NCIS community laying around.  But...I'd like to open this up to Gen and Het fics also and bring in the rest of the fandom. You know, if anyone will turn up. 

I'm just not sure if anyone will go for it.  Thoughts? Suggestions? Interest? Whack me over the head for adding yet another thing to my to-do list?
