I'm reading Black Magic Sanction at the moment. I'm still in the early parts. I'm trying not to spoil myself before I finish.  Mixed reactions so far. I'll post more when I'm done with it.

Feel free to spoil me if Rachel and Ivy make out at any point, and if so, please provide page numbers with your spoilers.

That is all.

Just came out today! I managed to snag the library's first copy. Go, me!

I'm reluctant to say until I finish the thing. I'm maybe a fifth of the way in so far and you know how fast books can go from promising to shit. But so far...promising. I don't know. I still haven't decided how I feel about it and I probably won't until I finish it or maybe have a re-read or two.

Rachel is kinda crap at being straight though.

Yes she is! LOL That's why I didn't really like the last one (though I may give it another try). I got tired of her constantly denying everything.

Yes!

I was actually kinda...dreading reading this one. I mean, I was excited when I picked the book up but then when I got home and I could read it I put it off for a while and procrastinated, doing other things because I was ninety percent certain it was going to piss me off again. It was the other ten percent that made me give it a shot.

That's probably how I would have been. I love the series and I understand Rachel's denial and freak outs, but seven books in and it's not evolving! It drives me nuts.

Well, it was less focused on Rachel and Ivy's relationship which was both good and bad. I mean less Rachel/Ivy = bad, but on the other hand it didn't leave me with a desire to spork Rachel in the heart for everything she was putting Ivy through so good, maybe?

The books is the worst in the series by a f***ing mile. It's horrible. Pierce is *everywhere*. Ivy doesn't do Jack-monkey-squat. Rachel is duller than ever before. 'Nuff said.

I don't know about you, but I'm done with the Hollows.

About halfway through when Pierce made Rachel admit she was in love with Ivy I was inclined to forgive him for existing. By the time I got to the end I was no longer so inclined. I guess, I was just expecting such a disaster that it actually somehow managed to exceed my expectations.

That and Al. Al is now officially my favorite character.

I've calmed down a little, probably because mid-term is at last over and I've got a week's vacation coming. I still think the book is horrible, but hey, I won't kick you for not thinking it's as bad as I do.

I agree that Pierce doesn't do much to justify existing. Damn, the guy... URGH! So annoying. No chemistry. Shoved down my throat for the whole damn book...

Al... Al, Al, Al, Al... I'm so conflicted about Al. I like him, but only when I leave my moral compass in my other pants. I think he's a right bastard, but at least he's entertaining, something I thought the book was cruelly lacking. So props for Al.

I can't forgive KH for underusing Ivy so, though. It's like she's always around, but never does more than look worried. It's funny how she still manages to kick a little ass despite what happens to her in the beginning.

I waited a few days until I read this and then devoured it. It was shorter than usual and more slim pickin's in regard to details; not as rich in content, you know? For example, most of the story I saw only glimpses of Ivy: her gray voice, her dark eyes, her hair..it was like the Cheshire cat, seeing only the grin, not the entire cat. Perhaps that was due to Rachel and her perpetual denial. I was so stoked when Pierce had her admit that she loved Ivy "more than a sister" (no kidding!).

Of course, there were other moments that slowly built awareness of Ivy: Rachel telling her "I want to be with you" and freaking out when Ivy is unconscious; the descriptions of Ivy kicking ass and stalking away to kick ass (love kick-ass Ivy!); holding Ivy's hand..by the end of the book I had a clearer vision of Ivy, which was a relief, b/c Rachel really surrounds herself with some idiot guys. I mean, Pierce was nice in the foxhole, but I'm with Jenks on the sex: ugh!

Not sure what I think about the Trent development but it's good to see some more background development. Matalina..sad. Al..good and creepy. Nick..prick..or is there more? Glenn and Daryl..what's the real story?

Overall, enjoyable but..we need more Ivy!
