Original fiction....for when fandom gets so awful that you just can't take it anymore.
But, okay, seriously...this was just going to be a drive by post, but I discovered that apparently I have something to say.
I'm running out of fandoms. Guiding Light (which, really? Who in the hell ever thought I'd claim that as a fandom?) is going off the air in less than a month. Venice will supposedly be on in a few months, but depending on how they choose to deliver it, it'll probably be kind dicey whether I get my grubby little fingers on it or not.
Wanna hear something sad? I don't even know when new NCIS episodes start to air. Ziva still fascinates me as a character, but I think as much as I love Ziva/Abby, I'm about done with it as a pairing that I can't get enough of. The spoilers for the beginning of the new season aren't helping at all either.
NCIS: LA...well, ya'll have all heard about Louise Lombard, right? Yeah, I was really looking forward to having two female characters on a show that seemed to interact often and not primarily about men. But alas...not to be.
Grey's Anatomy I can kind of take it or leave it, but I don't write for it.
SGU sounds awful, to the point of wondering who the hell okay'd this crap. Sanctuary is fun, but again, not caring enough to know when it starts airing or write for it.
The Hollows...honestly, I think Guiding Light killed the Hollows for me. Say what you will about Olivia/Natalia- and there is a lot to say - but by goobies they are a canon pairing. All the Hollows negativity and author drama was bringing me down, even though I knew better than to hang around on her website because it drives me insane. But the though of having to wait five to seven more years to find out which way she's going to go with Rachel and Ivy and have the constant negative reinforcement that she's not going to get them together? Dude, I don't think I can take that. I can hardly take the long hard slogs like that when I know for sure there's a light at the end of that damn tunnel.
*sigh* So, yeah, that's my current disgust with fandoms in general.
I do have three work-in-progress fics that I do want to complete now that I've finished (writing, not posting) The End of Her World. Taking Chances, one unposted NCIS fic (which will finish
fanfic100, finally, thank god!) and Let Sleeping Vamps Lie.

As for fandom fatigue, I'm right there with you. I've taken to reading SPN fic lately because I'm tired of or disappointed by or just flat out disgusted by the places I've loved in the past. I'd say dabble over there, but it's boys, boys and more boys, although a few things have come out of the Big Bang that every writer should read because of the artistry in how the stories and/or universes have been built. If you're even remotely interested let me know and I'll link you. One of them, hand to God, makes me want to either give up writing because I'll never be that good, or use it as my writing Bible and aspire to that level of sprawling, epic wonderful in everything I do.
Aside from that, have you checked out Criminal Minds? I can't remember if you're the one who posted about it and had tried it but found it weird. I know someone on my flist did and it puzzled me. The fandom itself can be... a challenge, and filled with craptastically crappy crap, but the show is pretty solid overall, with four strong female characters in JJ, Elle, Emily and Penelope. Even Jordan Todd was interesting to consider, if frustrating to accept as part of the team.
Leverage is another show that's been producing a lot of femslash, of varying quality, but Sophie and Parker are fascinating in their strengths and flaws as characters, and because of the overall plot, lend themselves to all kinds of plot bunnies.
If it helps give you something to look forward to, even a little,
Good luck on finishing the WIP and ff100. One day, I'll be able to knock that challenge off my list, really. *dreams big*

And that bit about NCIS: LA, that really sucks and gives me another reason not to follow it. At this point in time, I couldn't be bother anyhoo.
Question: Are you looking for other fandoms to squee about? Or do you think you'll just take a break?
