    • I...really didn't know that so many people were looking forward to this book. I thought it sounded kind of cheesetastic and awful and I wasn't planning on reading it at all.  For some reason it was making me think of Splinter's of the Mind's Eye and I really didn't like that at all.  Plus, it was written by Stover, and after Traitor and Shatterpoint...I was just feeling kind of meh about this whole novel.
    • If I wrote, boyslash, which I don't, but if I did, I would so write Threepio/Artoo based on this book alone.  It was hilarious and awesome!
    • OMG, the Bad Guy Names in this book were so cheesy that they were just awesome: Shadowspawn, Cronal, Blackhole, etc.
    • The perfect blend of old!Star Wars and new!Star Wars, and by that I mean the writing style not just the timeline.  It was edgy and dark, the book opens up with Luke asking someone to investigate whether he commited war crimes, but not so bleak as the NJO and beyond. It was FUN! And entertaining. I don't know when I've last enjoyed reading a SW book this much.
    • But, seriously? When did SW (Official, not fandom) get so kinky? I'm not complaining mind, but we have Han and Leia grossing Jaina out by making jokes about tieing each other up and Nick and Aeona talking about spanking? Lol!
    • Lando thought up Shield Ships! Lol, for continuity!
    • Hobbie! Oh, Hobbie! The first scene with the Rogues is just so perfect and hilarious. I love the image that Stover created of how Hobbie was almost literally holding his ship together.  And then there's another callback to that as Hobbie crashes again later in the book!

Edit - Also?  When I see "...here, at the end of all things." I totally think that I'm reading Shire Wars, you know?

Han and Leia speaking of tieing each other? *rawr* I should read that book, would it only be for that moment. XD

Actually...I think the Han and Leia bit is in Invincible. It was somewhere in the recent LotF, not Shadows sadly. I just meant trend in terms of recently written SW novels.

I got a copy of it from the library and I've been having a real hard time getting into it. I have no idea why.

Oh? Are you still stuck on the prologue? I found it a really entertaining book, and it even had Rogues! Not as much as I was hoping, mind you, but still, Rogues! :D

I got part way into chapter 1, but maybe I wasn't in the mood for SW. Or at least that one. Reading about Rogues made me miss Alston's stuff. LOL

I think I actually remember that one now... *thinks*

I admit that since DN, I'm kind of disappointed in the EU, though I might get back to it one day. :)

Yeah... *grin*

DN was a real low point. I have to admit that I liked LotF better than DN, but I'm not sure. Some of the speculation that I've heard about the Fates series is really turning me off if it turns out to be true.

i'm only about half way through the book, but i'm so far really liking it. and R2 and 3PO to seem to be um...slashy lol.
