No, uh, I guess it's american slang. I hadn't thought about it. In a car, what we call 'doing doughnuts' is when you get in like a parking lot or the middle of a field or something and you start skidding the car around in a perfect 360 degree circle. It's loud and feels kinda out of control and you're spinning around. It's awesome. Anyway, the shape in makes in the field/parking lot, if you're doing it right is a circle with a hole in the middle which looks a lot like a doughnut...hence the nickname.
