So...I've got the community mostly up and running...I think.  I've got rules. I've got banners.  Four of 'em actually, that I guess I'll switch out from time to time.  You can see 'em here if you'd like:

Abby

Ziva

Jenny

Kate

And I've got a community icon.  Real soon like I'm gonna post a few of my fics over there.  Am I forgetting anything?  I kinda wanted to have everything look as nice as possible before I start advertising the community around.  Any suggestions? 

Anyone willing to post some of their own NCIS fics there?  Pretty please?  Anyone?  Bueller?

I think you should do the banner so it automatically rotates, and then you won't have to choose.

Look at this:

If you like it, you can insert that URL into the banner spot, just like a regular image. Just ending in php instead of jpg or png. :)

Oh, you have to hit refresh to rotate it. It doesn't just do it by itself, like flash or anything.

It's really just:

1) find script on internet.
2) put in same directory as images.
3) link in place of image.

It's really easy to add or subtract pictures, so make banners at whim or change the site and I'd be happy to help. :)

If there are certain types of story not welcome on the community, it would be best to add that to the rules, so everyone's clear from the outset. You might also think about insisting that spoilers for the latest and future episodes are put under a cut.

You could standardise a set of tags for fics: Jenny/Ziva, Kate/Abby, crossover etc. and include those in the sidebar, if you thought it would be helpful.

You can either put them in the blurb box or as part of your links list. The links list limits you to about 25 links, I think, which should be more than enough if you're only listing the basics - you can separate tags from other links with a subheading - but if you need a lot you're probably better off using the blurb.

The links list is located on the first page (basics) of the customize journal page - second box under journal title box - then just pop the tag jenny/ziva in the top box and the link underneath http://community.livejournal.com/ncis_femslash/tag/jenny/ziva for example.
