[livejournal.com profile] ralst --Fried Green Tomatoes, Idgie/Ruth, Votes for Women

1928

“Where you been?” Idgie sounded indignant. “They don’t wanna eat my cooking.”

Ruth tied her apron on calmly. “I had something important to do.”

“Something important? On a Tuesday?” Idgie slid up to Ruth. “It wasn’t that Frank Bennett?”

“Of course not.”

“Then-”

“If you must know, Idgie Threadgoode, I was voting.”

“Voting?” Idgie looked as if she’d been slapped. “A good girl like you voting?”

“Of course. It’s what any good citizen would do.” Pointedly looking at Idgie.

“What would Reverend Scroggins say if he knew?”

“I believe he’d want to know why you haven’t voted yet, Idgie. And where you were this Sunday.”

Idgie grinned; Ruth felt her heart melt at the charm in that brilliant flash of teeth and twinkling eyes.

“Well, I ain’t got no answer for that last question that you wanna hear but I will go vote. If there’s something in it for me.”

Ruth eyed her skeptically. “Oh?”

Idgie passed behind her, brushing too close, sending shivers through Ruth. “Incentive, like.”

Ruth laughed, gave into the urge that had been itching her since she had walked in and smacked Idgie’s bottom.

“Go vote, Idgie Threadgoode, and I won’t go telling anyone you aren’t nearly as much of a wild woman as you pretend to be. That you’re a bigger softy then a pile of cotton in October.”

Idgie’s laughter trailed after her out the door.

[livejournal.com profile] carinjo --Fried Green Tomatoes, Ruth/Idgie, The bath after the flour fight.

Idgie slaps the water, sending it splashing over onto Ruth.

Ruth shrieks and turns her head but slaps the water back just as hard.

“Stop that, Idgie. You are gonna get the entire bathroom flooded.”

“I’ll clean it up.”

“No you won’t,” Ruth countered.

“Pro’lly not,” Idgie agreed. She raises a hand from the water and wipes a smudge of flour from Ruth’s cheek. “But I got good aim.”

“I’ll show you good aim!”

Idgie caught Ruth’s arms before she could splash again, tugged her forward and kissed her square on the lips for the first time.

Breathless, Idgie prayed.

[livejournal.com profile] luscious_words --NCIS, Ziva's first election since becoming a US Citizen.

Pardon me for getting a little...whatever. But, the events of this fic, minus Ziva being awesome, really did take place in PA today. So I took the liberty of letting Ziva champion some American democracy today. Hope you don't mind.

“No parking for Democrats. Walk. Most work you’ll do all day.”

Ziva lifted up the edge of the paper sign on the barricade and arched an eyebrow at Abby. “This is illegal is it not, disrupting legal voting?”

“It’s certainly not cool,” Abby said sharply, eyeing the sign. “Not cool at all.”

Ziva torn the sign down, walked further and torn down the next sign until they were all gone.

“People do not appreciate the miracle of American democracy.”

[livejournal.com profile] geekgrrllurking --Guiding Light, Olivia/Natalia, Candles and preparing for Frankenstorm Sandy at the farmhouse of love.

“Disaster lighting shouldn’t look this romantic,” Olivia said with a glance around the candlelit room. The farmhouse electricity, touchy at the best of times, had gone out an hour ago.

“No, but aren’t you glad I prepared now.” Natalia slipped her arms around Olivia’s waist.

Olivia touched her hand. “Of course. Keeping our family safe is always the most important thing.”

“But?”

“But now the kids are asleep, the farmhouse is as secure as we can make it, and there’s not anything else we can do until tomorrow, why don’t we take advantage of the candle light and...”

“Oh yes.”

[livejournal.com profile] eloise_stories --The Hollows, Rachel Morgan/Ivy Tamwood, Ivy and Rachel disagree on who to vote for.

“I can’t believe you’re voting for Trent,” I said, crossing my arms over my chest.

“Why not? He seems to know what he’s doing,” Ivy replied.

“Please! He’s the biggest brimstone dealer in the Hollows!”

Ivy’s eyes narrowed. “Are you accusing me of voting on the ease of access of brimstone?”

“No,” I said grumpily. “But it doesn’t seem like it would hurt.”

“What hurts,” Ivy ground out. “Is your tendency to get yourself jailed and targeted for assassination. If you must know I voted for Trent so someone will be there to save your sorry ass the next time.”

[livejournal.com profile] commasplice103 --Guiding Light, Doris Wolfe/Blake Marler Olivia Spencer/Natalia Rivera, Giving Otalia a run for their money for town's favorite Lady-couple.

“Are the votes in?”

“Doris, you do know this isn’t an official election?”

“Of course I do, honey,” Doris said, patting Blake’s arm placatingly. “But this is important. Olivia and Natalia have been Springfield’s favorite lesbian couple for too long. Now it’s our turn. What have they even done?”

“Besides overcome incredible odds to be together and show the entire town the true meaning of love?”

“Exactly. Where’s the passion? I mean, I’ve never even seen them kiss. You and I have more chemistry just sitting on a bed than their entire romance.”

“Doris, be nice.”

“Why? This is democracy.”

[livejournal.com profile] ceridwyn2 -- Fried Green Tomatoes, Idgie/Ruth, Fried Green Tomatoes.

Flavor exploded in her mouth, crunchy, salty and tart. Idgie stared at Ruth incredulously. “These are better than my Mama’s.”

“Idgie Threadgoode, don’t you talk like that. That’s ridiculous.”

Idgie laughed. “I wouldn’t go that far. Now if I said they were better than Sipsey’s...”

Ruth squeezed her forearm a little harder than necessary. “You think they’ll be good enough for the cafe?”

“Better. We’ll have to knock them boys out the door with a frying pan.” Idgie hesitated. “Actually maybe we’d better not tell them these are yours. They might try to drag you off and marry you.”

“That won’t happen,” Ruth said softly, but with steel in her voice.

“No?”

“No.”

[livejournal.com profile] femme_slash_fan --NCIS, Jenny/Ziva, Madness.

It’s madness, the two of them together like this, tangled in sheets, skin against skin.

If Jenny gets caught there will be newspaper articles, scathing blogs, and scurrilous comments on her character. Dyke, whore, slut, will fall from people’s lips. Who she desires will become a referendum on how well she does her job.

If Ziva is caught she will be summarily snatched back to Israel, to her father and the men he plans for her. Or they will try to use her against Jenny.

There is no forever. No one wins, but they keep coming back to this madness.

[livejournal.com profile] femme_slash_fan --The Good Wife, Kalinda/Alicia, Arguments and making up.

They don’t argue often. They got their fill of that years ago, of cold stares aching with pain and betrayal, remorse that never seemed to be enough and soul-deep longing to be together neither of them could deny.

When they do fight, it’s messy. Kalinda refuses to walk away. She did that once before; it left her crying alone in an elevator. Alicia hates it. She wants space to erect her formidable defenses.

Kalinda kisses; Alicia nips. Kalinda caresses; Alicia pushes away. Kalinda is there, there, there; Alicia cannot turn away.
