My second thought...

My second thought upon hearing about Disney's acquisition of Star Wars and discovering that they would be making another trilogy of movies was to realize I was going to have to go to the Jedi Council Forums if I wanted to discuss that with my fellow nerds. And I loathe the JC.

I want my DLC back. #TheDLCIsDead #LongLiveTheDLC

My first thought, in case anyone was wondering, was a long string of profanity and cursing. Whether they keep the EU canon as canon or do a reboot, or whatever I'm still filled with horror at how badly they're gonna fuck this up.

Please make it about some characters we've never heard of before and a totally different type of Star Wars movie than we've ever seen. And then maybe you won't make the fan people cry.

Heh - I think they broke the JC already.

Okay, I am not happy. Because I love the cohesion of I-VI, I love them all. And I love the EU, all of it that I've consumed with the exception of "Dark Empire". The last thing that I am is happy about this. I feel like I should be mourning the Star Wars I've loved for so long.

I'm pretty darn unhappy about it myself. I don't see any way that these movies can be good, and any way they go about it they're going to destroy canon. Either through the ignoring of it, which means the EU is immediately written off, or by forcing the EU characters and story into some movie acceptable format which ruins them.

And that's not even getting into the way that Disney/Star Wars are diluting their product. These movies were epic. They stood alone for 30 years before the prequel trilogy was made. Now, it's been just seven years since the last prequel aired and they want to put out a new trilogy? That's how Star Trek ruined their franchise with overexposure. They're making Star Wars into something that's no longer a once in a lifetime event and I resent that.

Yes, I don't see how they can be good and I'm sick at people rejoicing over Lucas's reduced involvement. We wouldn't have SW at all if it weren't for him so show some bloody respect.

Yep.

I'm not even a Star Wars fan and I had an instant 'Oh my God, that's gonna be abysmal' reaction.
