I came to this fandom in a similar manner to you, I figured 'why the hell not', then I was 'I can quit at any time' and now, no matter how frustrating it can be sometimes, I still want to see it through to it's conclusion. Would I like a kiss? Hell yeah, I love me a little girl on girl, but I won't be crushed if it doesn't happen. If it doesn't it doesn't... and by this point, technically it's already been done or not done, we're just watching with the airing dates. The storyline is done.
I'm enjoying it, I choose not to be sceptical, mostly because I'm speculating on nothing, I'm just not the type. We'll get what we get, when we get it and nothing is going to change that. That's fine by me. I hope they get together and get together properly, but I don't need the 'grand gesture' to cement that or really bring it to a close. I'm not saying it wouldn't be great, just that I don't need it, to believe it... I think.
It remains to be seen how I'll actually respond by the end! ;)
